On President Obama’s Secretary of State

From Taylor Marsh:

It should be crystal clear to everyone now why Barack Obama put his faith in Hillary Clinton when he nominated her to be Secretary of State. She’s simply the best person there was for the job and her first trip abroad has shown that from the moment it started.

From Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post:

Hillary Rodham Clinton has a new campaign and message: The United States wants to listen.

To that end, on her first overseas trip as secretary of state, Clinton is talking a lot. Her schedule is packed with so many town halls, ceremonial events, television shows and meetings with community leaders that it has the feel of a presidential visit — or even a presidential campaign.

Hillary did much better than I expected on her first trip. Kudo’s to her.

Where is the OMW’s take on the stimulus package? Hopefully the speech tonight to congress will start to turn the country’s mood. We need some inspiration!

I agree with Paul Krugman and am concerned that there is not enough spending. The problem was the negotiations with Republicans over the content of the package started in the house. Concessions were quickly made, yet the house Repubs never had any intentions of voting for it in the first place. That strengthened the hand of 3 senate Repubs and they ended up calling the shots for the entire package! I hope that is the last time the new president weakens his hand so early in negotiations.

Obama’s speech last nigh was pitch perfect and the country needed to hear it.
