President-elect Obama nominates retired Gen. Eric K. Shinseki to head V.A.
On the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor that precipitated US entry into World War 2, President-elect Barack Obama will nominate Eric K. Shinseki to be secretary of veterans affairs. Shinseki upset the civilians in charge at the Defense Department prior to the Iraq war when he suggested the US would need three hundred thousand troops to win the war and then keep the peace after the end of combat. He was forced out of his job, but his opinions proved prophetic.
From a press release Saturday by Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America:
General Shinseki is widely-respected, honest and experienced. He is a man that has always put patriotism ahead of politics, and is held in high regard by veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. IAVA looks forward to supporting him to implement the historic change that is needed at the VA.
As a wounded, decorated, combat veteran, and the first Asian American in US History to be a four-star general, General Shinseki, has the potential to be an effective and dedicated advocate for veterans of all generations.

I like it how Obama is pulling in these people who were blacklisted by the Bushies because they were interfering with the “agenda” but in the end turned out to be speaking the truth. Or, who were much smarter than the current administration wanted to let on.
Who’s next?
You are so right. This makes one a true believer in karma.
